Stratford Police: Paramedic, High on Heroin, Crashes Car

Police found containers of heroin in the vehicle after it crashed into a parked truck.

A paramedic for AMR crashed his car into a parked pick-up truck on Friday morning while high on heroin according to Stratford police, The Connecticut Post reports.

When officers arrived at Eleanor Street they found Robert Schmidt, 51, slumped in a car with his foot on the accelerator. They found empty glassine folds and two folds that contained heroin in the car, according to The Connecticut Post.

Schmidt was charged with possession of narcotics, operating without insurance, operating an unregistered vehicle and failure to drive right. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond.
