Police Make Arrests for Possession of Marijuana, Larceny

The following arrest information was supplied by the Stratford Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Man, Woman Charged with Larceny

Two shoplifters were arrested at Wal-Mart on June 2 after they were allegedly caught in the act by store security personnel in separate incidents.

Police said Elisa Figueroa, 25, of 572 California St., Stratford, attempted to steal clothing valued at $291.91. She was charged with sixth-degree larceny and released without bond for a court appearance on June 10.

Police said Andrew Mierzejewsky, 39, of 225 Dover St., Stratford, tried to steal a prepaid telephone valued at $89.97. He was charged with sixth-degree larceny and released on $500 bond for court on June 10.

Traffic Stop Leads to Possession Charge

Police charged Darrell Curry, 21, of 208 Harding Ave., Stratford, with possession of marijuana after he was pulled over during a traffic stop on March 28 at 10:33 p.m. on Bruce Avenue.

Police said they detained Curry because he had an outstanding warrant from the Milford Police for failure to appear in court. Officers allegedly found marijuana in his possession when he was searched.

Curry was released on $500 bond for a June 9 court appearance.

Police Respond to Disturbance at Wal-Mart

Officers were called to Wal-Mart, 150 Barnum Ave. Cut-Off, on June 2 to investigate the report of a man yelling and swearing at a young boy in the store.

According to the report, two female shoppers who intervened called the police when the man left with a woman and the boy. Store security also witnessed the incident and told officers the boy was not assaulted, police said.

Police identified the man as a former resident of Raleigh, NC, who is living in Bridgeport. The matter was referred to Bridgeport Police to do a child welfare check of the residence.
