The suspect, also a male, fled 145 Holmes Street after the stabbing but was taken into custody by police about a half-mile from the crime scene on Sherwood Place, Eannotti said.

The weapon, believed to be a small pocket knife, has not yet been located, according to the lieutenant.

The other person in the house was a teenage girl, who was emotional as police interviewed her on the corner of Holmes and East Street.

While the investigation is ongoing, Eannotti said, "it appears domestic in nature."

At the scene neighbors consoled the mother of the teenage girl. "Your children are alright and now everybody will be watching your house," said one neighbor.

"My girl, she could have been dead," said the mother.
