Police Investigating Late-Night Car Fire

The following arrest information was supplied by the Stratford Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Stratford police are investigating a case of suspected arson that reportedly occurred at an auto shop on Old South Avenue early Sunday morning.

Police were called to assist the Stratford Fire Department with a reported vehicle fire at 274 Old South Ave. at about 2 a.m. Sunday, according to a police report.

Police said the owner of the vehicle, an employee at , said he was inside the shop when he heard noises outside. When he went to see what the noise was about, he reportedly saw his 1954 Pontiac on fire and four to five males jump into a dark car and head toward Dodge Avenue, the report said.
