Police Blotter - Stratford

Enforcement actions taken in Stratford from March 14-15.

On March 14, while on routine patrol, police observed a black Jetta travel through a clear and visible stop sign located at Columbus Avenue and Larkin Street without making any attempt to stop. A check of the license plate revealed the registration was suspended due to no insurance as of January 2011. After stopping the vehicle, the driver, Afiya Myers, 25, of Columbus Avenue was unable provide police with a valid insurance card. Her driver’s license also showed a different address than on record with the Department of Motor Vehicles. Myers was charged with operating while under suspension, no insurance, failure to obey a stop sign and failure to notify of change of address. Myers was released on a promise to appear in court on March 29.

On March 15, police pulled over a vehicle on Ferry Boulevard and Veteran’s Boulevard and during the course of the stop discovered that the passenger in the vehicle had active failure to appear warrants outstanding in Stratford and Fairfield. James Grazianai, 31, of Sherman Street was taken to headquarters and charged with second degree failure to appear. He posted $1,500 bond pending a March 28 court date.

On March 15, police were on routine patrol on Barnum Avenue when a Ford Mustang was observed traveling north on Broadbridge Avenue with no front plate and a rear brake light not functioning. A check on the license plate revealed that the registration for the car had expired last November. After stopping the vehicle on Broadbridge, the operator, Selman Ndreu, 44, of Second Hill Lane, provided police with an insurance card that had expired on March 3. He could not provide a valid insurance card and told police he had no idea that the car’s registration had expired.  Ndreu was charged with failure to display a front plate, operating an unregistered vehicle, no insurance and no stop lamp. He was released on a promise to appear in court on March 29.
