Police Blotter

Stratford police reported the following incidents and arrests for the period Feb. 1 through Feb. 3.

On Feb. 1 Officer Muchett was dispatched to 310 Booth St. on a domestic complaint that a female had locked herself in the bathroom from her spouse and that he was attempting to gain access. Upon arrival, both parties were observed outside the home. The victim, Meghan Holbrook, 35, took police inside where CDs, DVDs and books were all over the floor. In addition, a 50” TV was also broken with glass on the floor. Holbrook told police that both parties were home when the argument started. Pascal Leger, 28, allegedly got upset with Holbrook and kicked the TV. Leger told police that it was Holbrook who kicked the TV and broke it. Officers were given conflicting stories about what transpired afterward. There was no sign of physical injury to either party. Leger was taken by police to headquarters where he was charged with disorderly conduct and released on a promise to appear in court on Feb. 2.

On Feb. 3, police responded to a complaint off vehicles stuck in the snow on Yarwood Street blocking traffic. Officer Schuler found a 1996 tan Honda Accord that appeared to be in the same place for several storms. A neighbor told police that the owner, Be Van Tran or Danbury was out of the country. The vehicle was towed.

On Feb. 3, officers Policano and Burroughs were on patrol traveling south on Henry Avenue near Canaan Road when they observed a blue Chevy Caprice wagon being operated by Eric Parmelee, 36, of Henry Avenue, who had three outstanding warrants. The officers activated their lights and sirens and were directly behind the vehicle when Parmelee allegedly failed to stop but instead continued at a high rate of speed on Henry Avenue with no apparent regard for ice, snow and traffic conditions, police said. When Parmelee finally stopped, he was taken into custody and charged with violation of probation, and two counts of failure to appear in court on previous charges.  Bonds on all three charges totaled $8,250 and was held in custody pending court appearances scheduled for Feb. 15, 16 and 24.

On Feb. 3, Officer Muschett reported that while on patrol he observed Anton Daniels, 28, of McGrath Court operating a vehicle and committing motor vehicle related violations. The accused had exited the Ramada via the “No Exit” sign and when the officer pursued, Daniels turned left onto Research Drive without signaling. After being stopped, Daniels was charged with a misdemeanor summons and operating without insurance. He was released on a promise to appear in court on Feb. 15.

On Feb. 3, Officer Dias was dispatched to the CVS pharmacy on Barnum Avenue on a complaint of a female causing a disturbance. Dias located a female, Tosha Schmidt, 47, at the pharmacy counter on her cell phone. Schmidt reportedly displayed an uncooperative attitude to the officer. CVS pharmacist Sonia Gupta provided police with a sworn statement that Schmidt had provided a prescription for a medication without a doctor’s signature, Percocet.  Gupta told police that she walked up to the counter with the unsigned prescription and told Schmidt it could not be filled without a doctor’s signature.  Schmidt then allegedly pushed the prescription back at Gupta and said in a loud voice, “Yes you will fill it,” along with at least one other vulgar comment. Gupta then called police whereupon Schmidt then threatened Gupta in front of three other pharmacy employees. Schmidt was then uncooperative with police, finally surrendering her license and claiming that the hospital told her the prescription was electronically signed.  Schmidt was issued a misdemeanor summons for breach of the peace and released on a promise to appear in court on Feb 11. Afterward, Schmidt allegedly called 911 three times after police refused to press charges against Gupta at Schmidt’s request. She was warned by Stratford Dispatch not to abuse the 911 system.

On Feb. 3, Officer Legen reported that while on patrol a blue Toyota Corolla was observed not stopping for a red light on Huntington Road and Main Street. A check found that the vehicle registration was suspended for no insurance. Shavondar Fuller, 27, of Johnson Court, was charged with operating with a suspended registration, no insurance, failure to obey a traffic signal and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. The vehicle was towed and Fuller was released on a promise to appear in court on Feb. 14.

On Feb. 3, Officer Rivera was dispatched to Barnum Avenue on a harassment report. Upon arrival, officers were shown a text message sent by the complainant’s ex-husband, Steven Szabados, 22, of Bridgeport. In a previous incident, Szabados had promised not to make any further contact with his ex-wife. After being contacted, Szabados voluntarily came to headquarters where he was charged with harassment and released on a promise to appear in court on Feb. 4.
