Patrick Ridenhour Named Interim Police Chief

Appointment is effective Monday in wake of resignation of departing Police Chief John Buturla.

Stratford Mayor John A. Harkins has appointed Deputy Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour to the open chief’s position on an interim basis.

The appointment takes effect April 18, and will last up to six months, while a search is conducted for a permanent replacement for departing Police Chief John Buturla.

Additionally, Mayor Harkins has appointed Captain Alan Wilcoxson to be interim Deputy Chief while the search process plays out.

“I am confident that the residents of Stratford will be well served by these interim appointments,” said Mayor Harkins. “These two officers will need to step-up and lead the department in the absence of a chief, and I am comfortable that they will do just that.”
