Overturned Vehicle Leads to Messy Morning Commute

The female driver was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

A one-vehicle accident near exit 33 on Interstate 95 southbound has made for a messy morning commute.

Firefighter Douglas Ashe said the female driver of the vehicle, which was overturned in the far right lane, was transported to the hospital for minor injuries. The rescue did not require extrication, Ashe said, but firefighters did pull her from the vehicle, a Saturn sedan.

The Stratford Fire Department responded to the 7 a.m. accident with Engine 1, Engine 5, Ladder 1 and Car 3 - the typical 95 response units, Ashe said.

The far right lane was shut down for approximately an hour while emergency crews worked to remove the patient from the scene. The aftermath of the accident is still being felt on I-95 south, as traffic is congested through Stratford, according to a state Department of Transportation (DOT) camera.
