Stratford police arrested a Waterbury man recently after an officer reportedly saw him speeding recklessly and running stop signs on town streets.

Police said the officer observed an SUV operating recklessly and at high speeds on Stratford Avenue at 11:47 p.m. on June 16. The officer tailed the vehicle and saw it run a stop sign on Beadsley Avenue, police said. The vehicle was pulled over at the corner of West Broad Street and Main Street.

Police identified the driver as Jorge A. Samayoa, 24, of 175 Baldwin Ave., Waterbury, who is reportedly a legal resident of Guatamala. He was charged with reckless driving, no insurance, no license and failure to stop for a stop sign.
