Investigation Finds 300 Grams of Cocaine in Stratford Home

Street value of that 300 grams: $12,000, according to police.

A Stratford man is being held on $1 million bond after a months-long investigation discovered the 33-year-old was dealing large amounts of cocaine in Stratford and surrounding cities, police said Tuesday.

David Vereen faces, among other charges, three counts of sales of narcotics after police, executing a search warrant Monday at his 175 Cannon Drive home, found 300 grams of powder cocaine, 20 grams of crack cocaine, 30 roxycodone pills and various drug paraphernalia, police said.

Stratford police Sgt. David Gugliotti said the 300 grams of powder cocaine would go for $12,000 on the streets.

The narcotics sales charge carried a court set bond of $750,000. Additional charges of possession with intent to sell more than half an ounce of cocaine, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, operating a drug factory and risk of injury resulted in an added bond of $250,000.

Vereen is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 15.
