Officers patrolling the area of Birch Drive amid complaints of possible narcotics activity near a town senior citizen housing complex said they picked up a Stratford woman who had a warrant out for her arrest.

Akida McKnight, 36, was spotted in the rear of a vehicle that entered the parking lot and parked in a handicapped spot, police said.

At the time of the incident last week, McKnight had an active warrant for violation of a conditional release with a court set bond of $5,000, police said.

When police asked McKnight to exit the vehicle, officers said they noticed another rear passenger attempt to conceal an item in the cigarette box behind the driver's seat.

Police said they found two baggies of suspected marijuana in the tray that later tested positive. The individual who attempted to hide the pot admitted ownership and was issued an infraction, police said.

McKnight was transported to police headquarters where she was charged with violation of a conditional release.
