Firemen Battle Cape House Fire on Adams Street

Early Friday morning blaze does significant damage, but no one injured.

Stratford firefighters battled an early Friday morning blaze at 25 Adams Street and arrived on a scene to find heavy fire and smoke visible from the second floor windows of the two-story Cape.

The alarm sounded at 12:24 a.m. with engines 1, 3 and 5 responding, as well as ladder 1, car 3 and EMS.

Upon arrival, firemen observed the blaze well underway and called out for engine 2. Reports broadcast at the time indicated that a resident was already in the street. No injuries were reported.

Firemen from the B shift crew aggressively attacked the blaze, which was brought under control quickly, although firefighters remained on the scene until just after 3 a.m. to check all areas for any remaining signs of potential flare-ups.

Meanwhile, a backup unit from Milford was called but was not needed after the quick response by Stratford firemen.
