Fight Leads to Arrests; Larceny Charges Levied

Two Arrested After Fight at Gas Station

Two Stratford residents were arrested over the weekend on charges of creating a public disturbance after they allegedly started a fight with a motorist at a service station.

Stratford Police received multiple 911 calls at 2:08 a.m. on June 19 reporting that several persons were fighting at the Getty gas station at 265 Boston Ave. Officers arrived and quickly restored order, police said.

According to the report, one of the persons in the fight said he parked his car at the gas pumps and went to the service window to purchase fuel when he noticed two men entering his car. He told them to leave his car and the fight started, police said.

Police detained and arrested the two men, who police identified as Martin Torsters, 24, of 310 Booth St., and Agnis Cibuks, 27, of 65 Clover St. They were both released on a written promise to appear for in court on July 1.

Alleged ShopRite Shoplifter Busted

Store security personnel at ShopRite, 250 Barnum Ave. Cutoff, called police at 3:40 p.m. on June 18 to report a suspected shoplifter.

Stratford police said Michelle L. Zani, 30, of 1874 Barnum Ave., Stratford, was observed concealing numerous food items valued at $44.42 in her purse and leaving the store without paying.

She was charged with sixth-degree larceny and released on a promise to appear in court on June 29.

Woman Charged with Wine Theft

Police apprehended a woman who allegedly stole a $17.99 bottle of vodka from the store at 2336 Broadbridge Ave.

A store representative called police headquarters at 8:41 p.m. on June 18 and reported the theft. Officers searched the neighborhood and located Girolama Minutolo, 43, of Bridgeport, who reportedly fit the description of the suspect. The bottle of vodka the store had reported stolen was found in her possession, police said.

Minutolo was charged with sixth-degree larceny and released on $100 bond for a court appearance on June 29.
