Elderly Woman Struck by Vehicle

The unidentified woman was reportedly taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

An elderly woman was transported to Bridgeport Hospital this morning for minor injuries sustained when she was struck by a vehicle, police said.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, was walking southbound on Broad Ridge Avenue in the section of roadway between the curb and white line -- called the fog lane -- when a car backing out of a driveway struck her, said Stratford Police Capt. John Popik.

The woman was knocked to the ground, he said. She was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for minor injuries.

The incident took place at about 8:50 a.m. today, June 21. Popik said it is too soon to know if charges will be filed against the driver.
