Driver in Stratford Nail Salon Crash Charged w/ DUI

Dennis Leach faces a DUI charge for allegedly driving drunk and crashing into a local nail salon.

A 46-year-old Stratford man is accused of driving drunk when he crashed his vehicle into a local nail salon Friday afternoon, injuring nine people, police said Monday.

Dennis Leach is charged with operating while under the influence; risk of injury to a minor; second-degree assault with a motor vehicle (four counts); and third-degree assault (five counts).

The accident occurred at 411 Barnum Avenue Cutoff, at the storefront of Pretty Nails salon, at about 4 p.m. Friday.

Police said Monday there were nine victims in the crash, one of which is listed in critical condition, although the injuries "do not appear to be life-threatening at this time."

The case is still under investigation, said Stratford police spokesman Lt. Frank Eannotti.

Leach was released from police custody after posting $50,000 bond.
