Driver Charged in Jan. 6 Crash with Pedestrian

Lydia Rivera, 52, was charged with two infractions.

A Bridgeport woman has been charged with two violations following on Main Street near Paradise Green Place.

The pedestrian, Eileen Perry, 31, of Stratford, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Bridgeport Hospital but has since been released, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

The driver, Lydia Rivera, 52, was charged Jan. 19 with:

  • Failure to grant right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk
  • Failure to avoid striking a pedestrian

The infractions require no court date and result in a payable fine, Stratford police traffic division commander Frank Eannotti said. The investigation concluded when the charges were filed, he added.

On Nov. 26, a Bridgeport woman walking across the street near the intersection of Main Street and Stratford Avenue was the victim of , which is still being investigated by Stratford police. However, an arrest warrant application has been submitted to Bridgeport Superior Court, according to Capt. Joseph McNeil.

Eannotti said he has prepared a statement regarding pedestrians and public safety that will be released in the next week or two.
