Domestic Dispute Turns Physical; Woman Arrested

Party was warned not to return home after altercation. Police called twice.

On April 17, police were dispatched to Booth Street on a report of a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival, police spoke to a man who said he got into a verbal dispute with his wife. The man told police that he suspected his wife was having an affair with another man and he confronted her about it.

The woman, Kim Morton, 41, allegedly became very upset and started swearing at him. Both had been consuming alcohol that evening, police were told.

At that time, Ms. Morton told police that she was not having an affair and that she and her husband had been having domestic issues in the recent past. She continued to swear at her husband in police presence, an officer wrote in his report.

Police asked the husband if there was a place he could stay that evening, when Ms. Morton volunteered to leave the house and stay at the Trumbull Marriott. While she was gathering some belongings, she continued to swear and threw a set of car keys at her husband and then “got into [his] face and told him that she is going to the hotel with her boyfriend.”

While police transported the woman to the hotel, she allegedly admitted to police of having an affair with a man and expressed apprehension that the man’s wife, a friend, would discover the relationship.

When it was discovered that both the Trumbull Marriott and Comfort Suites were both full for the evening, police called for a taxi to transport her to a friend’s place in Norwalk.

She was warned by police not to return to the home that evening.

Two hours later, police reported, Ms. Morton returned home and when police arrived and entered the house she allegedly threw her hands in the air and said, “F&%$# arrest me.”

She was then placed in handcuffs and put in a police cruiser. When police asked the husband about what had happened, he told police that he knew his wife had a key and he had placed a piece of wood in front of the door.

She then entered the home through the basement door and entered the kitchen to continue the verbal dispute. She then allegedly “struck him in the nose with the top of a foot stool,” at which point the husband called police.

Ms. Morton was charged with disorderly conduct and third degree assault. Bond was $1,000 pending a court date.
