Cops: Woman Tried to Back Car Into Stratford Police

Bridgeport woman faces multiple charges for alleged incident.

A Bridgeport woman was charged for an alleged incident Tuesday in which she tried to back a car into police officers in Stratford.

And that’s after she allegedly stole the vehicle at gunpoint and crashed it into a telephone pole after a short pursuit, said Stratford police spokesman Lt. Frank Eannotti.

Latrinda McNeill, 21, was arrested on various charges including first-degree robbery, first-degree reckless endangerment and third-degree larceny.

McNeill led officers on a pursuit out of the New Stratford Motor Inn after a complainant reported being robbed of his vehicle at gunpoint by two females at the Stratford Avenue business, Eannotti said.

The pursuit did not last long, though, as McNeill drove the car into a telephone pole a short distance from the motel, the police spokesman said.

After the collision, the Bridgeport woman attempted to back into officers who were approaching the car on foot, Eannotti said.

Though McNeill was reported to have a firearm, police did not locate one during her arrest, Eannotti said. Also, the reported second female was not seen or located during the incident.

McNeill was also charged with interfering/resisting arrest, reckless driving, possession of marijuana, operating without a license and engaging police in a pursuit.

She was held in lieu of $50,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 29.
