A Stratford man faces multiple charges after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in Fairfield, police said.
Devin Fennell, 19, of Main Street in Stratford, was charged Friday with disorderly conduct, interfering with emergency calls, second-degree assault, threatening, first-degree unlawful restraint, and second-degree strangulation.
According to the police report, Fennell allegedly hit his girlfriend, threw her on the ground, choked her, and took the phone away from her when she tried to call police. The altercation occurred at her residence in Fairfield on John Street.
Police were notified by a witness who observed Fennell and his girlfriend outside the home. It appeared that the woman was holding a knife and Fennell was advancing aggressively toward her.
Responding officers interviewed the girlfriend, but Fennell was gone when they arrived. Police found him in Bridgeport.
Fennell was held in lieu of a $25,000 bond and was scheduled to have appeared in court on Monday.
