$115,000 Worth of Cocaine Seized After Foot Pursuit in Stratford

Stratford police assist in the state police arrest of a Hamden man on cocaine charges.

A Hamden man who led police Monday night on a foot pursuit in Stratford has been charged with possession of an amount of cocaine that has a street value of $115,000, state police said.

Daniel Mills, 32, of Shelton Avenue, Hamden, was held on $250,000 bond after state police found 3 kilograms of cocaine and an undisclosed amount of cash in his possession, Lt. J. Paul Vance said.

State police said the pursuit began at about 9:30 p.m. on I-95 northbound near exit 33 when Mills ignored a police cruiser's signal to pull over.

Stratford police Capt. John Popik said Stratford officers and the department's K9 unit assisted in the arrest, which took place near the on Ferry Boulevard.

In addition to the possession of narcotics charge, Mills was arrested for reckless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia in a drug factory, illegal sale of drugs by a non-drug-dependent person and interfering with an officer (non-assaultive).

He was due in Bridgeport court Tuesday.
