Alleged Robbers Escape Police in Barnum Avenue Holdup

But police say they were able to track down the alleged driver of the getaway car.

Police say they are investigating several robberies in Stratford and Bridgeport after the latest incident Tuesday night when two suspects held up a Barnum Avenue convenience store at gunpoint.

The two alleged robbers remain at large but police say they have arrested a third suspect, the alleged driver of the getaway car identified as Keomany Phetsarath of Bridgeport.

The alleged holdup happened about 10 p.m. Tuesday at the Checkers Food Store at 1796 Barnum Ave.

The attendant surrendered $750 to the two males who then jumped into a white Honda and fled the scene, police said. The vehicle was later located in Bridgeport with the help of police there.

Phetsarath, 25, was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery and interfering with an officer. He was held in lieu of $50,000 bond and is due in court Dec. 13.

No one was harmed in the holdup or the arrest, police said. The case remains under investigation along with several other robberies in the area.
