Obituary: Vincent Corda, '48 SHS Class President, 82

Vincent would go on to further his studies at Columbia and the University of Connecticut.

Vincent E. Corda age 82 of Stratford passed away on Feb. 1, 2013.

Vincent was born on Feb. 13, 1930 in Bridgeport and was the son of the late Benjamin and Sophie Andrekevich Corda.

He was a graduate of Stratford High School Class of 1948 where he served as their class president. He went on to further his studies at Columbia and University of Connecticut.

He was also a United States Air Force veteran stationed in Iceland during the Korean War. He later worked in the insurance industry, General Electric Company and became a self-employed contractor.

He was a true sportsman who enjoyed baseball with a passion, which included playing for the White Eagles, Boston Braves and a tryout for the NY Yankees. He also loved photography, reading and resources provided by the Stratford Library and its wonderful staff.

He enjoyed the local neighborhood and looked forward to daily walks with his favorite cigars. Vincent’s children would like to thank doctors, Amy Schwartz and James Roach and the entire staff at the W. Haven Veterans Hospital for all of their care and compassion given to their father throughout the years.

Vincent is survived by his beloved son Edward V. Corda of Stratford, daughter, Alison A. Corda of Trumbull, two grandchildren, Nicholas R. Corda and Christopher M. Corda, two sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by three brothers, John, Michael and Benjamin. In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may contribute to The Stratford Library, 2703 Main St., Stratford, Conn., 06615 in his memory.

All services will be private and at the convenience of the family. All arrangements have been entrusted to the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home 2220 Main St., Stratford.
