Obituary: Marie Matasavage, 93

Marie R. Matasavage, age 93, of Anderson, S.C., formerly of Stratford, the beloved widow of Edward Matasavage, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2013 in her home.

Marie was born in Scranton, Pa. to the late Peter and Beatrice (Paswinski) Rutaly and was a resident of Stratford until moving to South Carolina a year ago.

She was a retired Secretary with Dresser Industries and was a member of their Quarter Century Club. Marie was also a volunteer at the Baldwin Center Seniors for over 20 years.

In addition to her husband and parents her son Gerald (Jerry) predeceased her.

Survivors include her daughter-in law Kathleen Matasavage and her husband Richard Vasilescu, three grandchildren Debra Carvalho and her husband Ben, Brian and Greg Matasavage, three great-grandchildren Kristen, Caitlyn and Alex Carvalho, a sister-in-law Irene Matasavage and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will take place on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford and at 11 am in Our Lady of Grace Church, 407 Second Hill Lane, Stratford with a Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment will take place in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 am. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Marie’s memory to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, S.C., 29261.
