Madeline J. Petrizzi Leary, 84, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 18, 2014, in her home with her loving family by her side.
Madeline was born on Sept. 23, 1929, in Bridgeport and was the daughter of the late Antonio and Giovina Baffaro Petrizzi.
Madeline was a graduate of Central High School class of 1947, and was employed by the General Electric Company as a secretary for 27 years.
She loved to travel, cook, visit the casino, celebrate holidays, dance, was known as the "life of the party" and cherished spending time with her family.
Madeline is survived by one son, Detective E. J. Leary Jr., and Kyle Knapp, of Stratford; five grandchildren, Officer Michael J. Shedlock Jr., and Lindsey Reid whom she raised, Edward Leary III and wife Stacey, Sarah Leary and Stephanie Leary, two great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Jacob; one brother, Anthony (Sonny) Petrizzi and wife, Sandy, of Bridgeport; one sister, Julie Stearns, of Milford; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Edward J. Leary, Madeline was also predeceased by one daughter, Kathleen Leary; and two sisters, Phyllis Kunin and Mary Baxter.
