Obituary: Jennie M. Figula Sekelsky, Age 73

Jennie was a 'Mother' to all, and enjoyed cooking and opening her home to everyone.

Jennie M. Figula Sekelsky, age 73, of Stratford, the beloved wife of Charles Sekelsky, returned home to the place the Lord had prepared for her on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012 in Bridgeport Hospital.

Jennie, also known as "Grandma Jennie," a homemaker, was born in Bridgeport to the late Michael and Mary (Malik) Figula and has been a lifelong area resident.

She was a graduate of Harding High School, and was a member of the Ladies Guild at Holy Name of Jesus Church. Jennie was a "Mother" to all, and enjoyed cooking and opening her home to everyone. She was kind and benevolent, and always gave to others first.

Her family would like to thank the staff of Bridgeport Hospital's Emergency Department and the Stratford EMS for their compassionate care.

Survivors in addition to her beloved husband include her children, CSM Charles (Chuck) Sekelsky and his wife Mary, stationed in Germany, Cathleen Martinez of Stratford, Rick Sekelsky and his wife Cathie of Shelton, and Mark Sekelsky and his wife Karin of MI, 12 cherished grandchildren Amy Schommer and her husband Michael, SFC Charles Sekelsky Jr., SSG Sean Sekelsky and his wife Kristi, Travis and Jamie Sekelsky, Jessica and Chavez Martinez, Wesley, Kayla, Emily, Erik, and Annika Sekelsky, 2 great grandchildren Madalyne, and Jameson, a sister Mary Demchak and her husband Michel, of Bridgeport, sisters-in-law Joan Figula of Stratford, Ida and Joan Sekelsky both of Shelton, brother-in-law Raymond Sekelsky and his wife Marge of PA, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by a brother Kenneth Figula.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 3, at 10 a.m. in Holy Name of Jesus Church 1950 Barnum Avenue Stratford. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford.

Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. In the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations to Holy Name of Jesus Church in Jennie’s Memory.
