Obituary: Gandolfo 'Gandi' LaPlaca, Age 90

Gandolfo "Gandi" LaPlaca age 90 of Stratford, the beloved husband of Juliann Dohey LaPlaca, passed away on Friday Nov. 2, 2012 in Bridgeport Hospital.

Gandi was born on February 19, 1922 in Bridgeport and was the son of the late Salvatore and Rosa Siracusa LaPlaca.

Gandi was a United States Army World War II Veteran and was a member of the 492 Bomb Group of the 8th Army, a T Sgt. and radio operator of the B-24 Aircraft and serving missions between June of 1944 to August of 1945.

He was the proprietor of LaPlaca's Tax Service of Stratford for over 50 years.

In addition to his beloved wife Juliann, he is also survived by one son Thomas LaPlaca and wife Donna of Alpharetta Georgia, one daughter Joyce Harrington of Milford, five grandchildren Thomas LaPlaca, Sara Burkett, Brynn Harrington, Abigail Roth and Melissa Harrington, six great grandchildren, five sisters Loretta Fehr, Peggy LaPlaca, Gloria Centopani and Bette Martinelli all of Connecticut and Yolanda Demeree of Arizona, one dear lifelong friend who was like a brother, Pompeo Romano and Family and several nieces and nephews. Gandi was also predeceased by his former wife Margaret (Margie) Blasko.
