A 32-year-old Stratford man who died in a car accident last week will be laid to rest Friday.

Kevin Oakley succumbed to serious injuries sustained in a crash on Huntington Road Friday night.

Police said the vehicle Oakley was driving at around 9 p.m. crashed into an unoccupied parked car in the 900 block of the road. Oakley had to be extricated from his car, according to fire officials. The accident remains under investigation.

The following obituary is courtesy of William R. McDonald Funeral Home.

Kevin M. Oakley, age 32 died Friday, March 8, 2013 tragically and unexpectedly from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was employed by Paul Davis Restoration. Kevin was obsessed with golf, whether playing it or watching it on television and couldn’t wait to play this spring.

He enjoyed fishing at the river and having fires with his friend Wade. He loved music, playing his guitar, and although few people knew it he had a beautiful singing voice.

He had a deep and profound respect for animals and nature that was instilled by his father. To know him was to love him and he will be missed by all his many friends and family.

He was pre-deceased by his father John M. Oakley (who past 22 years earlier). Kevin is survived by his loving mother Virginia Weaver Oakley, his sister, Melanie (Mellie) Oakley, fiancé Jenn Williams and a daughter Cheyenne Fedor who Kevin loved as if she was his own.

He was also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends, including those he called “The Family.”

In lieu of flowers please, buy a spring bulb or a perennial plant and think of Kevin every year.

Friends are invited to attend his funeral on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 10 a.m. from the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford and at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church for a Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment will be private. Friends may call Friday morning from 8:30 to 10 a.m. To sign his online guest book visit www.wrmcdonaldfuneralhome.com.
