Time for a change,Time for a WOMAN

Since the beginning of time, who besides men have ruled the world? You guessed it, no one with the exception of a Queen Elizabeth here and a Catherine the Great there and a Cleopatra in Egypt. And since the beginning of time, all they have ever done is to create problems, start wars, and make babies to die in those wars.

Those wars kill not only our children, but the women and children of other countries. Throughout all of history, more women and children have died than all the soldiers, of all the armies, in all of histories of wars. Today’s modern wars have created the “ military industrial complex “ which has been described by President and General Dwight Eisenhower as something to be suspicious  of, who make huge profits through the killings of innocent peoples.

World War II was the reason President Roosevelt  was able to not only get us (meaning all of America), out of the Great Depression, but to put a stimulus in our countries industrial capacity that would set a new standard in world economic domination. As we all know, that world and time has come and gone. Today , we now borrow money from China, to buy goods from Walmart,which is basically a minimum wage employer with no benefits what so ever, that is the largest employer in the United States, selling goods that are made in China or Malaysia or the Philippines where the “white man” still exploits peoples of color. But lest I digress.

The problem today in Stratford, is that we’ve had two men as Mayor in the past 8 years, one from each Party, and neither one has done anything even approaching their campaign promises. We are no better off than we were 8 years ago, taxes continue to raise, Town services continue to deteriorate through attrition of our public works department and there is an overall malaise that is overtaking our citizens.

 Politics, which is a nasty word to many people, has a way of corrupting people, not just by bribes and favors, or “ quid pro quo”, but by seducing  them into a feeling of power and entitlement and invincibility which is what always brings them down in the end. It’s the “Good Ole Boys Network”. It’s the “Politics As Usual Bunch” and they are all men of both Parties. In a year when  Hillary Clinton seems to be the odds on favorite to be the next  POTUS, lets jump ahead of the curve and elect a woman of intelligence, highly educated, and, this is the most important part, untarnished or corrupted by years of the “Good Ole Boy” attitude that her opponents claim is their strength. A woman that will be the Mayor of ALL our residents. For all those who aren’t old enough to remember Gloria Minie , she was one of the best  Town Managers Stratford ever had. Just ask some of us old timers. Someone who will change the way our government does business here in Stratford. Someone who will make us proud to be Stratfordites. Someone who is a Stratfordite in more than just in name only. Someone who’s first 2 priorities will be, Honesty and Transparency, something that has been totally lacking over the past eight years. With those two policies to start with, we can start to move forward in a new direction and come out of the political doldrums we have been stuck in over the past eight years. That person is Beth Daponte, and she is running for mayor
