As your Mayor

As your mayor, I’ll use my business experience to bring real economic development to Stratford.  

The first thing I’ll address are the barriers that years of politicking have erected.  As Planning Commissioner, I’ve witnessed first-hand how costly and time consuming it is for the average company to do business in Stratford. Our Zoning Commission’s inability to align its requirements with both our 10-year plan and our economic reality is a real roadblock to new business. I’ll work to ensure that our zoning regulations match our plan and serve the interests of the entire town. 

Secondly, I will continue my listening tour. I want to talk with people doing business in Stratford to learn what the town can do better for them. Good business people have good ideas; I want to hear them and use them to attract other good business people. 

Finally, I will lead an outreach effort to contact businesses throughout the country to promote the possibilities that Stratford offers. We have the rare combination of access to major highways, railways, an airport and seaports.  Our town offers a great work force and logistical advantages far exceeding those of neighboring towns and states. I will be the Stratford mayor who promotes our town and will do everything I can to make sure we don’t lose out. 

With the right companies, Stratford has the opportunity to provide jobs to its citizens and add badly needed revenue to the town coffer. The time has come for us to be proactive and willing to leverage best practices that work. 

My plan to improve economic development and stimulate business growth in Stratford includes expansion into tourism, clean energy, light industry, special services, research, and education. I will be providing more specifics on these ideas in the coming weeks.
