Two boots a rockin'

Walking down Fairfield Avenue, looking forward to a cold beer and a bite to eat, Dan Zultowski eagerly follows a small group of young musicians, many of them toting saxophones.

Opening the doors of Two Boots Pizzeria in downtown Bridgeport, the 25-year-old recalls his very first visit. One night, while celebrating a buddy’s birthday he was immediately taken back by the nostalgic 50’s décor and the food, knowing it wouldn’t be easy leaving at the end of the night.

“It’s anything but an ordinary dinning experience,” he said “If I could, I’d eat here every week.”

Conveniently located at 281 Faifield Ave, Two Boots Pizzeria is a full-service restaurant, offering Italian and Cajun infused creations like the “Bayou Beast,” a mozzarella cheese pizza topped with barbeque shrimp, crawfish, smoked sausage and jalapeño peppers.

Keeping their guests entertained, a performance stage that never seems to be empty, features local musicians and comedians everyday of the week.

Jazz music filled the air, patrons watched as the young musicians finished up their saxophone solos. Alicia Martel grabbed a seat in the dining area, just having finishing her double-shift. The 24-year-old Two Boots employee has seen a lot of talent since she started working here one-year ago. What she didn’t know is that the next performer was a young and talented musician, who had recently played with blues legend “Buddy guy" and nothing could have prepared her for what she was about to see next.

Taking to the stage, Bobby Paltauf, 12, grabbed his electric guitar, adjusting the microphone stand. Then it happened, he began shredding a “Little Wing” cover by Jimi Hendrix. The crowd stirred themselves into an uproar, cheering and whistling throughout the performance.

“Wow, I can’t believe he’s only 12-years-old,” she said. It was anything, but a typical Saturday night.
