Trader Joes would be the best fit there. Then we don't have to go all the way down to Fairfield or up to Orange.
Mike Reynolds September 10, 2012 at 02:44 PM
Wouldn't Trader Joes hurt Nature's Way?
Dale September 10, 2012 at 03:12 PM
What about a daycare center?? With all the businesses and stores in the area I am sure most of the workers have kids. Near the schools and located in the center of town....
Walt September 10, 2012 at 03:37 PM
Daycare shouldn't be in a busy shopping area, Trader Joe's all the way. Competition for Natures Way
Chris September 10, 2012 at 04:06 PM
How about a fitness center? We don't have enough of those it seems. I do like Robert's suggestion though......

Make Marshalls larger - Marshalls/Homegoods - or a DSW - Maybe even a Lane Bryant since they moved out of Trumbull shopping park or Avenue.
Stella Luis September 10, 2012 at 05:14 PM
DSW would be AWESOME, but might put Payless out of business. Lane Bryant sounds good too.
Catmommie September 10, 2012 at 09:02 PM
You can't get parking there now, forget about about having a Christmas Tree Shop (oh, talk about junk) or Traders Joe's.
stick lee September 10, 2012 at 09:40 PM
Yea, a gun shop with range. D andreas and K-5 are gone, so we have to travel out of town to purchase and/or shoot. What a good idea.
Lina C September 10, 2012 at 10:32 PM
They're closing because they were bought by the same company that owns Dress Barn. Since they're direct competitors and Dress Barn does better, ALL Fashion Bugs are closing.
Eileen Dover September 11, 2012 at 02:22 AM
A gun shop and range?! Are you serious? Let's just change the town's name to White Trashville!
stick lee September 11, 2012 at 02:38 AM
And a lane bryant says what about stfd.....?
Eileen Dover September 11, 2012 at 03:00 AM
It says that Stratford has plus-size women in town. Actually, I don't remember seeing pickup trucks with NRA and "Vote for Mitt" bumper stickers pulling up to Lane Bryant.
stick lee September 11, 2012 at 03:08 AM
That was a little sarcasm.. i know what type of store lane bryant is...and you 're right, just import lowriders with bumperstickers that read "no fat chicks " and "nobama "
Sassy5582 September 11, 2012 at 03:50 AM
Wow, the comments posted on this page alone scream White Trashville, how about some positivity and some class people! Trader Joe's sounds like a great idea, another fitness center is probably not necessary since one is opening in the old Office Depot location, and I think Lane Bryant would be a nice idea too!
Cathy September 11, 2012 at 01:01 PM
That is GREAT! :)
Cathy September 11, 2012 at 01:02 PM
I would say Christmas Tree Shop or AC Moore? Oh, wait, how about something like an arcade or a place for kids to go?
Laura September 12, 2012 at 02:06 AM
We need a traders joes in town.
Jennifer September 12, 2012 at 11:54 PM

Nancy September 13, 2012 at 06:13 PM

A modern liquor store. The package stores in Stratford are amongst the most embarrassing specimens that i've seen.

Ok, enough with the suggesting "you get what you pay for" CHEAP Trader Joe's. READ BELOW before you suggest Trader Joe's products for Stratford resident consumption. Cheap food stores masked as brandnames raises the risk of food born illnesses. 10/05/2012 Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter (sku 97111) Valencia Peanut Butter with Roasted Flaxseeds (sku 98927) Almond Butter with Roasted Flaxseeds (sku 94079) Organic Creamy Valencia Peanut Butter (sku 81955) Organic Crunchy Valencia Peanut Butter (sku 81953) Organic Creamy Unsalted Valencia Peanut Butter (sku 91587) Organic Crunchy Unsalted Valencia Peanut Butter (sku 91581) because of potential contamination with Salmonella. Customers who have purchased these items are urged to not eat the products, and to dispose of them or return them to any Trader Joe's for a full refund. Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. How about an "Aldi".
Baseball Mom November 20, 2012 at 04:21 PM
Planet Fitness Stratford needs one.
Baffled Resident November 21, 2012 at 06:47 PM
Will never happen. Aldi doesn't renovate existing spaces. All Aldi locations are built brand new.

we dont need another fitness center since the one that was on the other side of the movies is no longer. we dont need another retailer that sells cheap Junk and attracts undesireables. the only missing down in that area is a healthier place for lunch for the ppl who work in that area. i suggest a roly poly, liquid lunch, even a jamba juice something besides McDonalds blah
Baffled Resident January 12, 2013 at 02:09 AM
The space is too large for the places that you've suggested. Also............ Did the Roly Poly at Stationhouse Square close?
michael May 10, 2013 at 10:27 AM
definitely
michael May 10, 2013 at 10:29 AM
I would love a Whole Foods somewhere in town.
