Taking Back Our Community Radio on WVOF 88.5FM (TBOC) is a Ministry on WVOF 88.5FM with a mission and vision.   Our vision is to provide a safe haven which is spiritually filled, multicultural diverse with a focus on both the mentally/physically ill, mentally/physically challenged, drug & alcohol, physically abused creating youth empowerment. 
 
Our mission is to unite the communities in faith by building a strong community through love, unity and respect.  We intend reaching out to all youth providing a forum on Taking Back Our Community Radio WVOF 88.5 FM, advocacy, mentorship, mediation, vital resources, skill-building techniques, character building, conflict resolution, awareness, and empowerment and community events.  We intend to deliver and heal the forgotten or lost youth through spirituality by providing a tool to keep them focused in positive activities which will contribute to a better community.  We are inviting others to grasp tolerance, cultural awareness and community outreach.
    
On Saturday, September 1, 2012 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., We Are S.E.T (Sisters’ Empowerment Team, Graduates of Kolbe Cathedral, UCONN & Southern CT Univiversity) will be hosting our 5th Annual fun-safe free community event “Back to School 3 on 3 Ball”N Tournament and Talent Showcase” which attracts over 500 + people annually. This years event will be back at Birdseye Field in the beautiful Town of Stratford, Connecticut.  This event will consist of 3 on 3 basketball tournament, slam dunk, three legged race, face painting,  moon bouncer, kickball, tug of war contest and a 2x WNBA Basketball Champion 1996 & 1997 from the Houston Comets “Yolanda Moore,” who will motivate our youth briefly discussing her life in her new book, “You Will Win If You Don’t Quit,” at the start of this school year.     Our intent is to unite the youth in our communities and for them to have memorable lasting moments. We will be providing free food/beverages, raffles, etc.  Also, DJ by Clear Image Entertainment & performance by local recording artist Gabriel Brunot who will wow the audience with his talent. So, bring your lawn chair, positiive energy and enjoy the festivies.
   
We need your help!  We are in need of Donations and vendors to make this event a success.  Please make Checks payable to We Are S.E.T or make deposits at a People's Bank Branch.
