Health & Fitness

To parking lot or not to parking lot that is the question.

A new parking lot has become active on the site of the former doctor's office and liquor store on Main Street.
When the doctors and Last Call Wine and Spirits moved out of the building in front of the parking lot it was taken over by commuters because there were no signs posted to warn then away from the lot less then be tagged, towed, or booted by the parking lot police.
It lasted for about three weeks before the men in bright yellow with sledge hammers moved in to announce to  one and all that the site was now parking lot "B".
"B" permit only, New Haven DP or else face that wrath of the parking police.
The parking police, not the town's Toma's de Torquemada, patrol all of the lots to make sure the vehicles have the proper identification.
One day after the signs went up, according to my sources, the lot which was full (23) cars, was now occupied by two or three vehicles depending on the time of day.
Where "O" where did all of the cars go?
The infamous Lot "K" is still half empty the "new" lot "B" is totally empty.
Note:This was checked before the Metro North commuter disaster which has for the most part chased commuters away.
Commuters and the general public should not blame Metro North officials for this new transit mess.
It is Co-Ed electrical out of New York, a power company which makes U.I. and C.L.P. look like complete professionals.
It is Co-Ed that "screwed the pooch" so to speak.
The governors and political types should be all over Co-Ed demanding action no matter how much it costs in overtime.
Back in the parking lots, I fail to understand where all of the commuters are hiding their vehicles.
Right now we have more parking spaces then there are vehicles.
What ever happened to the 100 year old waiting list for a commuter parking space?
Also last week there were persons in their little yellow vests doing, for somer reason I do not understand, leaf blowing in parking lot "K and in parking lot "B" on Main street.
The town has the manpower to do leaf blowing when the leaves are still on the trees, but apparently this is no manpower to lay down some hot patch or cold patch or whatever on the trails between the main parking lot and lot "K" and the walkway at the end of the parking lot the has a path to the Stratford Square.
I really though a local contractor would "man up" and do the job.
The new lot "B" behind the vacant building has no real lighting so the parking after dark could provide hazardous to you health.
Also, while the building is still standing, why not give the keys to the Fire Department so the smoke eaters can practice their building search and rescue and firefighter down drills in the building.
No power. no lights, lots of crawl spaces and blind walkways in the basement to my mind would make a great training location.
Also, as the transit mess continues, the little coffee shops up and down the line between New Haven and Stamford including the one trackside here in town, will now doubt suffer financial loss because of the lack of commuters.
Only in Stratford kiddies, only in Stratford.
