New "Happy Hour" times and a new menu for downtown restaurants.

Fall has arrived and there has been some changes in the menu and "Happy Hour" times for two of the downtown restaurants.
Little Moe's on Main Street has made some major changes in the "Happy Hour" menu and drink prices.
During the "Happy Hour" you can get a beer, for $3.00 and well drinks and house wine for $4.00.
I stopped in last week for a quick glass of "Happy Hour" wine and found it to be excellent for the price.
There is also a reverse "Happy Hour" in the evening which starts around 10 p.m. and ends around closing.
There are also food specials for $4.00 at "Happy Hour" which is your basic comfort foods.
There are also clams on the half shell and wings available by the price of each wing and each clam that you purchase.
It seems like a good plan and will be in direct competition to  Acapulocs Family Restaurant which does a ""Happy Mexican" beer for $3.00.
Little Moe's seems to have developed a following in the downtown area and the new menu should help to stimulate the business.
On the other side of the tracks, the Station House Wine Bar and Grill on the westbound side of the train station, has gone to a seven day a week noon to 7 p.m. "Happy Hour."
The Toma's de Torquemada (AKA STFPD) still dispatches to the North bound side or South bound side , confusing the Metro North Police dispatcher and the Chief Train Dispatcher for MTA to their wits end.
This seven day a week noon to 7 p.m. "Happy Hour" while new to Stratford has been in operation for some time up in the New Haven area.
The Station House Wine Bar and Grill still will offer $1.00 off on all drinks and 1/2 price on the appetizers during the extended "Happy Hour".
Last week on Facebook the new times were posted but without the rules of the road so to speak.
Anthony Fidaleo, the "Capotasto"of the restaurant was quick to point out that the "Happy Hour" prices are good "ONLY AT THE BAR".
There will also be Fall baseball specials, along with NFL specials during the weekends.
That means you have to be seated at the bar , not in the dinning area to enjoy the new times and prices.
Please do not try to swindle the wait staff since only the person behind the bar has the computer codes to do the "Happy Hour" deals.
Also a new employe "The Neck" will be keeping track of patrons who will try and "beat the rap" so to speak.
Back to the other side of the tracks, the former Steven's Pub, now owned by the Shriners  is undergoing a major renovation with the out side walls being re done and a new roof being installed.
The bar which at one point was allegedly the longest bar in town has been cut in half and the process of turning parts of the dining room into meeting space is well under way.
From what I have been told in will be open to membership shortly after the first of the year.
I always liked a private club, and since I am not welcomed at Post 9460 of the VFW and the American Legion Post in Milford is off the beaten path I might apply for membership for the sole reason that they do great work with burn victims which I have been up close and personal with over the years.
Hudson's Deli, just up the street, has been open for some time and as a promise to the owner I stopped in recently to try out their grinders (AKA hoggies) to the New York folks.
I tried the Corned Beef Reuben,(sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and spicy deli mustard) and found it excellent on a toasted hoggie.
It was like getting "The Reuben" and then walking over to Central Park West sitting down with the sandwich and a cup of red wine (you can do that in the city if you know the right people) and watch the world go by.
Looking through the speak out section of the Patch recently comments from a person or persons unknown, allegedly by the name of Nick caught my eye.
He claimed in what I think was the English language that when he went in the direction of Hudson's Deli for a purchase he was confronted by seedy characters in the parking lot and a female employe who was on her break smoking a cigarette near the back door of the deli.
One of Stratford's elitism, intellectualist, he chose not to go into the deli and instead went to Acapulcos for food.
Because he is such a elitism intellectualist he took money out of the pockets of the good people who own and work in the deli.
Retail help need a break because the must deal with the public while keeping a smile on their faces.
I worked at Tiffany&Co. in New York and Greenwich and Lux Bond and Green and co-managed Black Bear Wine and Spirits both in Westport and despite the high end clients, retail customer service is difficult to say the least.
The most difficult retail  position in the world is a bar tender.
He or she must deal with the alcohol fueled while again keeping a smile on their faces.
It like hand to hand combat at times.
Nick has an alleged problem.
As far as I am concerned it is the fault of the Torquemada who do not enforce the large no loitering sign in the courtyard parking lot.
Torquemada:
A.Put down the coffee and donuts.
B. Get out of the car.
C. Walk over to the hooligans who are smoking  and loitering in the lot and enforce the law, that is what you are being paid to do.
D. Note to the Chief of the Torquemada why can one of the officers do a walking beat on that section of Main Street between Little Mo's and the Courtyard to move the hooligans along.
Right after school closes during the week and prime time on the weekends.
Yes there are hooligans in the area, my response when confronted by them is to use my Marine Corps training and walk over them.
Only in Stratford kiddies, only in Stratford.
