An excellant restaurant gone bad under new management.

A good restaurant that looses business becauses the new owners don't seem to know what they are doing by raising prices and cutting portions.

Over the years I have always said very good things about Juliano's Restaurant at 865 Barnum Avenue cutoff.

The place is now under new management, the food has gone down hill, the portions have gone down hill, the customers service has gone down hill while the prices on some of the items have gone through the roof.

Under the old management, a friendly group of owners and staff took care to work with several of us on the daily commute who would call in our food orders from the train either as in stopped in Bridgeport or on Fridays when in stopped in Fairfield.

I will never knock a restaurant until I have tried in three times.

The new management won the dugout award.

Three strikes and I will never set foot or recommend the restaurant to any person again.

First shot out was the anchovies with oil and garlic over linguini.

The oil must have come from a recent oil spill in the Gulf, the portion was small, the anchovies had a smell that the cat in my apartment building, who will eat anything, backed away from, with a look of "you want me to eat that?"

I went back and complained.

Hint to new owners, good customer service does not include waving a can of oil in my face and telling me it's the best they have.

Strike two and three.

Ziti and sausage again over linguini. The portion was small, the sausage was lacking, no little loves of bread, no napkin, no plastic knife or fork.

The price went from $7.50 to $12.95 for something called pasta marinara with linguine.

Except for the older female waitress who was there under the old management, the customer service level of the place is below zero.

There new menu stresses gourmet pizza and fancy pasta and dinners with some of the prices that to say the least, are on the high side.

Second hint to new owners, there are five different pizza restaurants within walking distance of the train station.

The commuters are hard at work look for a new place with reasonable prices and a better customer service attitude.

Using the short cut through the back of parking lot number 1 at the station to the Stratford Square and Villa Pizza seems to be the best bet.

Prices are lower, am told food is better and so is the service.

Will try it next week.
