SquareWrights, the playwright collaborative, presents the “Quotable Quickies” short-play series at summer Festival! Stratford
SquareWrights Playwright Collaborative will present
“Quotable Quickies,” a collection of six original short one-act plays on Saturday,
August 3rd at 3 p.m. at the historic American Shakespeare Festival
Theater, 1850 Elm Street, Stratford. The performance, which will take
place in the lobby, is free and open to the public, but space is limited.
The show features the following
plays by Stratford playwrights: “Look
Both Ways” by Bea Allen, directed by Rachel Babcock of Branford; “Opening Night”
by Steven Otfinoski, directed by Robert Watts of Milford; “Graduation” by Jack
Rushen, directed by Tom Rushen of Stratford; “Greatness” by Mark Lambeck,
directed by Louis Pietig of Westport and “Sweet are the Uses of Adversity” by Orna Rawls, directed by Marlana Rugg of Stratford. It also features “Waiting for the Bus” by Kate Gill of Guilford, directed by Forrest
Stone of Madison.
Each of the short plays was
inspired by a famous quote from a Shakespeare play. The series was presented as
a public staged reading at the Stratford Library this past spring to workshop
and develop the plays for this special performance at the historic American
Shakespeare Festival Theater as part of Festival! Stratford.
