PUPPETRY GUILD TO HOST ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND RAISER GALA

CHESHIRE, CT – The Connecticut Guild of Puppetry proudly announces its annual fundraiser to support the Margo Rose Scholarship fund.  Join the Guild on Saturday, January 26, for a fun night of cabaret entertainment designed for an adult audience featuring puppeteer Leslie Carrara-Rudolph and her spunky sidekick Lolly Lardpop.  “Leslie, Lolly, Laughter” will take place at the Augusta Curtis Cultural Center, 175 East Main Street, Meriden, CT.  Doors open at 4:00pm.

Leslie and Lolly will perform an evening of songs, skits, and comedy along with a few other special guests.  Leslie Carrara-Rudolph is an Emmy-nominated puppeteer whose credits include “Muppets Tonight,” “Johnny and the Sprites,” and most notably “Sesame Street.”  She is a founding member of The Jim Henson Company’s alternative improv company “Stuffed and Unstrung” and also tours her own show, “Wake Up Your Weird,” an “interactive theater piece that offers some creative tools for dealing with bullying and self-esteem issues.”

Silent and Scotch Auctions of puppet-related items will help to provide an entertaining and memorable evening for performers and audience members alike. A light supper is included with your ticket purchase.

The Connecticut Guild of Puppetry celebrates its 36th anniversary as a chartered Guild of the Puppeteers of America, Inc.  In 1997, The Puppeteers of America recognized the Guild as the Outstanding Guild in the U.S.  Funds raised at this event will be used to provide scholarship support for a deserving puppeteer to attend The National Puppetry Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Waterford, CT, in June. The Guild’s Scholarship is named in honor of the late renowned Connecticut puppet artist, Margo Rose.  Margo was a charter member of the Connecticut Guild of Puppetry.

For reservations and additional information, visit the Guild Web Site, www.ctpuppetry.org, or call (203) 272-2541 or (860) 354-5463.
