Square One Theatre opens its 23rd Season with David Foley’s Deadly Murder, a brilliantly intricate thriller guaranteed to be one step ahead of the audience all the way!


Deadly Murder opens Friday, November 2 and continues on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through Saturday, November 17 (2012) at Square One’s home base, the Stratford Theatre, located at 2422 Main Street in Stratford, Connecticut.

Camille Dargus has beauty, brains, wealth and a successful career. She also has a penchant for attractive young men. One night she meets a young waiter and takes him back to her SoHo apartment and finds that there’s more to the man than meets the eye. Soon Camille finds herself held hostage at gunpoint by a man who seems frighteningly familiar with the past Camille struggles to forget. Full of twists, turns and bluffs, the cast of Deadly Murder includes two Square One audience favorites, Al Kulcsar and Peggy Nelson with Josh Wills making his Square One Theatre debut.


Al Kulcsar’s Square One Theatre credits include Southern Comforts, ART, The Right Kind of People, Moonlight & Magnolias, Match, Talking Heads, Inherit the Wind, Later Life, The Countess, The Shop at Sly Corner, Twelve Angry Men, Three Viewings, Camping with Henry & Tom, The Heiress, The Business of Murder and Two Rooms. He is the recipient of Square One Subscriber Awards for Outstanding Actor (Southern Comforts, Moonlight & Magnolias, The Business of Murder, The Shop at Sly Corner, Camping with Henry & Tom) and Outstanding Featured Actor (Later Life).


Peggy Nelson’s credits on the Square One Theatre stage include Irena’s Vow, Love Letters, Indian Blood, Doubt, The Constant Wife, Buffalo Gal, Later Life, The Best Man, Changing Lives, The Trip to Bountiful, Jake’s Women, Love & Pain…, The Dining Room, Three Viewings and Rumors. In addition, she is co-host of State of the ARTS on WPKN-FM. She is also the recipient of Square One Theatre Outstanding Achievement Award as well as Square One Subscriber Awards for Outstanding Actress (Irena’s Vow, Doubt, Buffalo Gal, and Later Life) and Outstanding Featured Actress (Rumors, The Countess, Love & Pain…).


Josh Wills is making his Square One Theatre debut. He was most recently seen in New Haven as Malcolm in Elm Shakespeare Company's production of Macbeth. Other stage credits include Orphan's Home Cycle (u/s), Laramie Project Epilogue (Hartford Stage), The Happy Prince (Long Wharf), A Winter's Tale, Hamlet, The Matchmaker (Elm Shakespeare Co.) and The Tempest (Capital Classics).


Playwright DAVID FOLEY’s Deadly Murder was nominated for a 2008 Edgar Award. New York productions of his other plays include Nance O’Neill, Paradise, The Last Days of Madalyn Murray O’Haire, The Murders at Argos and A Hole in the Fence. His play Suffering the Witch, winner of the Southwest Theatre Association Award, has been performed at Théâtre de Poche in Brussels and at Théâtre Proscenium in Liege. He has an MFA in Fiction Writing from New York University, where he teaches.


Working backstage are Stratford’s Kimberly Krol (Stage Manager), Judy Keegan (Assistant to the Director) and Don Henault (Sound), Milford’s Cliff Fava (Lights) and Shelton’s Greg Fairbend (scenery).


Deadly Murder is directed by Stratford’s Tom Holehan.

All performances are on the stage of the Stratford Theatre, 2422 Main Street in Stratford, Connecticut, located off I-95 Exit 32 (northbound and southbound) in Stratford Center.

The Stratford Theatre is wheelchair accessible. Square One Theatre and Friends of Square One recently purchased Sennheiser’s state-of-the-arts hearing-assisted listening devices for its patrons. The Sennheiser system is used in a number of other regional theatres as well as Broadway and Off-Broadway
