BTC Presents: TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD

Bridgeport Theatre Company continues its fourth season with the classic drama TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, running March 21-29. All performances will take place at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre, 263 Golden Hill Street, Downtown Bridgeport. Under the Artistic Direction of Eli Newsom, Bridgeport Theatre Company operates in residence and presents the Community Theatre Series for the Downtown Cabaret Theatre. BTC’s 2013/14 season has so far included LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS in September, a one-night screening of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW EXPERIENCE and a recent sold-out run of DREAMGIRLS. The remainder of the season includes SHREK in April/May, a concert version of TOMMY by the Who on Apr 5, and a 24-hour play festival in June.

Based on the beloved novel by Harper Lee, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD follows a young girl named Scout Finch, her older brother, Jem, and their widowed father, Atticus, a lawyer appointed by the court to defend a black man accused of assaulting a young white woman. The production aspires to provide a powerful theatrical experience, exploring important lessons about racial tolerance, class, and courage, as well as an individual's power to do right in the face of overwhelming wrong. This is an experience for the whole family that will encourage mothers, fathers, and children to talk about the power of family, empathy and doing the right thing in the face of insurmountable odds.

The cast of 18 local performers includes Will Jeffries (Southbury) as Atticus Finch, Kitty Robertson (Fairfield) as Jean Louise Finch, Claire Regan (Fairfield) as Scout, Tyler Felson (Guilford) as Jem, Mia Cenholt-Haulund (Trumbull) as Dill, Tondrea Mabins (Bridgeport) as Calpurnia, Kevin Pelkey (Beacon Falls) as Sheriff Heck Tate, Lynette Victoria (Bridgeport) as Mayella Ewell, Roger Dykeman (Stamford) as Bob Ewell, Everton Ricketts (Bridgeport) as Tom Robinson, Ryan Elle (Bridgeport) as Helen Robinson, Stephen DiRocco (Wilton) as Mr. Gilmer, John Atkin (Norwalk) as Judge Taylor, Andrea Garmun (Milford) as Maudie Atkinson, Lauren Linn (Stratford) as Stephanie Crawford, Qesar Veliu (New Haven) as Boo Radley / Nathan Radley, Sampson Denny (Bridgeport) as Reverend Sykes, and Jack Levis (Oxford) as Walter Cunningham.

The production is Directed by BTC Artistic Director Eli Newsom, with Scenic Design by Kevin Pelkey, Lighting Design by Phill Hill, Sound Design by Chris Gensur, Projection Design by Damon Testani, Costume Design by Christy McIntosh, and original Music Composition by Christopher Cavaliere. This all-local-artist production is sponsored in part by Miller, Rosnick, D’Amico, August, & Butler, P.C.
