Back to School Immunization Clinic

The Stratford Health Department is
sponsoring a School Immunization Clinic for Stratford
children on Monday, August 26, 2013 and Tuesday, August 27, 2013 from 12 to 6
pm at the Birdseye Municipal Complex, 3rd floor,
468 Birdseye Street, Stratford, CT 06615. Vaccines such as Tdap (tetanus,
diphtheria and pertussis), chicken pox (varicella), meningitis and MMR (mumps,
measles, and rubella) will be available so that school-aged children, 18 years
of age and under, can be up-to-date with their shots for the start of school.

No appointments are necessary for the
August walk-in clinic. Vaccines will be given on a first come, first served basis. Parents or guardians must accompany their
child and must bring the child’s
immunization
record with them.

There is a $20 charge for the first vaccination and $5.00 for each additional
vaccination per child.  Meningitis and
Varicella vaccines will be available for those aged 19 and older at varying
costs.

If a child needs a Tuberculosis (TB)
skin test, he or she can receive it at the same time vaccines are given. Plan accordingly for the TB
test because your child must return two days later to have the skin test read by a public health nurse.
The TB skin test is an additional $20.00.

Call the Public Health Nurse, Bernice
Bova RN, for more information about whether your child is considered high risk for TB and
qualifies for the test or if you have any vaccine questions at (203) 385-4058.
