Mayor Greets Voters at Bunnell

Mayor John Harkins has had a busy day trying to reach voters throughout Stratford as election day winds down.

"I've been to nearly every polling place -- there's just a few left," he told Patch at about 4:30 p.m. upon arriving at Bunnell High School, where he cast his own vote earlier in the day.

"Right now our campaign has been running on the theme of moving Stratford forward," he said. "The response has been very positive from voters, but I'm just trying to remind them to get out and exercise their civic right to vote."

Harkins said he'd heard from voters on the army engine plant on economic development, and he was optimistic about the outcome of the election.

"We've also received compliments about making Short Beach cleaner," he said.
