Winter Storm to Bring 5-7 Inches of Snow to Stratford; Parking Ban Starts at Midnight [UPDATED]

Stratford should expect accumulations between 5 and 7 inches, according to a 10:58 a.m. Saturday forecast by the National Weather Service.

As the snow continues to fall, the National Weather Service (NWS) now has Stratford under a Winter Storm Warning, which will remain in effect until 4 p.m. this afternoon.

The National Weather Service has downgraded the region's Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Advisory, which will be in effect from 1 a.m. tonight to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Projected accumulations are now 4 to 6 inches.

The town's alternate side of the street parking ban will go into effect at midnight tonight and last until midnight tomorrow night, according to Marc Dillon, the mayor's chief of staff.

Residents should park on the "odd" side of the street only.

Stratford's first significant snowstorm is expected to drop 4 to 7 inches between 4 a.m. tonight and 1 p.m. Saturday, according to a 11:35 a.m. forecast by the National Weather Service (NWS). 

The NWS has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the region, which will end 4 p.m. Saturday. The Service warns that visibilities Saturday morning will frequently be one-half mile. "Very hazardous travel coniditions" are expected, the NWS reports.

The NWS says the high for Saturday is 32 degrees so any precipitation will be in the form of snow.
