UPDATE: Power Outages in Stratford Down to 46

Thursday night's storm packed a punch in Stratford but most residents now are back in the light.

Updated 10:55 p.m.

The number of United Illuminating customers in Stratford without power is down to 46, according to UI's outage map as of 10:42 p.m. That's less than 1 percent of the utility company's customers in town.

Earlier in the night (see last update), the outage map estimated it would take until 6 a.m. for most of Stratford to have its power restored.

Updated 9:45 p.m.

There are now 2,275 United Illuminating customers in Stratford without power or about 10 percent of the utility company's customers in town.

More than half of those in the dark -- 1,305 customers -- are in the Lordship section of town. According to UI's outage map, there are crews there now and those residents can expect to have their power back by 10:51 p.m.

Customers in other areas of Stratford won't be so lucky, according to the map, which was last updated 9:29 p.m.

The more than 1,000 customers in North Stratford can expect to have their power restored by 6 a.m., the map shows. Twenty-six customers in Central Stratford can also expect to have their power back by that time.

Ok by Boothe, but part of a small tree down in our driveway. Many small branches down along roads.

I am just happy we did not see tornadic activity in town. Power outages are a pain, but they do not cause the property damage that a tornado does. I'm sure UI is right on this and will have Lordship "up and running" within a few hours.

Didn't U.I. just install new transformers and upgrade the power in Lordship, wasn't that a week or so ago?

We got three happy Lordship residents who posted the following on the Stratford Patch Facebook page: Sarah Martin Lordship: "power is back on!" (10:22 p.m.) Robert Chambers: "Yup came on a little while back, looks to be all set." (10:26 p.m.) Andrea Adzima Buchanan: "Yay, we're back on the grid. Thanks UI!!"
