Reported Fatal Accident on I-95 Northbound Cleared

Lanes have reopened to motorists after a reported fatal accident closed down the highway.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation's Twitter page is reporting that the accident on I-95 northbound in Stratford has been cleared and lanes have reopened to motorists.

The Connecticut Post is reporting that the accident involved at least one fatality.

According to radio transmissions at about 4:10 p.m., State Police is reporting 100 gallons of fuel on the ground, which will cause the highway to be closed for "an extended time."

A tractor-trailer crash between exits 31 and 32 on I-95 northbound has shut down traffic on the northbound side of the highway.

The accident was reported around 1:45 p.m., according to the Connecticut Post. The crash involved a truck and a car. 

Traffic is backed up for several miles.
