Stratford Schools Closed Wednesday

Schools close for the third time this week as cleanup from the weekend blizzard continues.

Stratford public schools will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 13, as the town and residents continue to dig out of a blizzard that dropped upwards of three feet of snow Friday into Saturday.

This week's school closures, coupled with the week lost due to Hurricane Sandy, have prompted one Stratford parent to request that the Board of Education move winter break to this week or shorten it next week.

In a Facebook post this morning to the Stratford community, Mayor John A. Harkins stated public works had opened every roadway with at least one pass. But some residents rebuffed that claim, saying they were still snowed-in.

A public works update posted on the mayor's Facebook page this afternoon read: "Any road still not passable is prioritized and will be gotten to today. Thanks for your continued patience and feedback."
