Town Postpones Halloween to Wednesday, Nov. 7

The postponement will allow time for UI to make the roads and sidewalks safer, according to the following release from the mayor's office.

Updated 10 a.m. Wednesday

The Baldwin Center is without power and will be closed today, Oct. 31. It was previously designated as a charging center by the town. The other one is Birdseye Municipal Center, 468 Birdseye Street, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today.

Our original report follows.

Like many other shoreline communities, the town of Stratford is postponing Halloween trick-or-treating for one week, from October 31 to Wednesday, November 7.

This will allow United Illuminating time to make roads and sidewalks safe for local children, as well as restore electricity to Stratford residents.

Additionally, the shelter at Bunnell High School will close as of 6 p.m. Tuesday evening. Those in need of shelter may call 2-1-1 to locate a shelter in the area. Birdseye Municipal Complex and the Baldwin Center in Stratford will be open as charging stations from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Wednesday.
