Stratford police have put out a press release saying that beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, they will begin a stepped-up effort to curb drinking and driving in town with roadside sobriety checks.
Between the hours 6 p.m. April 29 through early Saturday morning, April 30, at 2 a.m., the Stratford police department is particating in the 2011 comprehensive DUI Enforcement program, the release said.
"The program enables us to conduct this roadside sobriety checkpoint in an effort to reduce the number of impaired driving" incidents, in an effort to reduce injuries and fatalities through increased high visibility DUI enforcements, police said.
"Please don’t drink and drive," the press release warns.
