Stratford Police to Step Up DUI Enforcement Friday Evening

People who may drink and drive in Stratford tonight should be prepared to face scrutiny from efforts to reduce accidents and injuries.

Stratford police have put out a press release saying that beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, they will begin a stepped-up effort to curb drinking and driving in town with roadside sobriety checks.

Between the hours 6 p.m. April 29 through early Saturday morning, April 30, at 2 a.m., the Stratford police department is particating in the 2011 comprehensive DUI Enforcement program, the release said.

"The program enables us to conduct this roadside sobriety checkpoint in an effort to reduce the number of impaired driving" incidents, in an effort to reduce injuries and fatalities  through increased high visibility DUI enforcements, police said.
