A town-wide curfew is in effect from 6 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday, the mayor's office has just announced.

All residents are urged to stay off of the roadways, and Stratford emergency personnel will respond to calls as long as they can safely do so.

It's expected that Hurricane Sandy will create a storm surge tonight of at least seven feet, and bring winds gusting to 80 mph.
