The lockout of a Milford health care center has a Stratford family struggling to pay its monthly bills, the Milford Mirror reports.
Union workers at the West River Health Care Center, 245 Orange Ave., were told Dec. 13 that the union and company owner failed to reach a contract agreement and that they could not return to work, the Mirror reports.
At a gathering on the Milford Green Sunday, the Mirror spoke with the 10-year-old son of an out-of-work Stratford mother. David Alexis told the Mirror's Jill Dion his parents can't pay the bills and he rarely sees his father anymore because he has to work double since his mom has been locked out.
The Mirror reports that the contract disagreement is over health benefits and pensions.
