Stratford Declares State of Emergency

The following release from the office of Mayor John A. Harkins explains what it means to residents

Stratford Mayor John A. Harkins has declared a state of emergency ahead of Hurricane Sandy, effective at 6 p.m. [Saturday]. The declaration allows the town maximum flexibility in preparing for and managing the effects of the storm.

Additionally, the town will have a limited number of sandbags available to the public beginning Sunday, Oct. 27 at 9 a.m in the Public Works yard, located at 550 Patterson Ave.

Additional updates will be forthcoming as events warrant.

So you're saying if mandatory evacuation is ordered you're staying? That's fine but don't complain when no one comes to help you.
Robert Chambers October 28, 2012 at 02:29 PM
Yup, and will accept all the risks therein.

No prepared sandbags. Just sand and bags. DIY and bring your own shovel too.
